When I insert the memory card into my DMC FS10 camera a window opens saying memory card error, Format this card? it gives a yes and no option. Both when pressed ask me to insert the SD card again. When I do i goes back to square one.
Do I need a new card? I'm off on a two month trip tomorrow and need my camera.
Any help would be good. Google hasnt helped so far.
Seems it was the card, I bought a new one and everything is hunky dory.
Buy a spare too - have you got some means of getting the pics off the card whilst you're away?
Always a good idea to have a bunch of spare cards just in case. They're so cheap now I tend to leave the photos on the card when full and just start a new one, keeping the full ones as an archive. I've just bought four 8Gb Sandisk ones for less than £16, so those should last a while.
Probably too late now, but check for deals on mymemory.com and other suppliers and bulk buy 4 or 8Gb cards and keep a couple in the case with the camera.
I bought an 8GB card and I should be able to download the pics to/via my iPad.
Yikes, I paid £12 for a single 8GB card in Asda.

How? Thought it was locked down? No USB, no card reader etc?

I've been having similar issues with my Lumix and its SD card; it's also a little temperamental in my PC. A bit of wiggling and/ or reinserting it seems to do the trick though.

There's a 'camera adapter' SD reader dongle you can get. I think official ones are about twenty quid, my OH got a Far East copy off eBay for about 99p and it works a treat.

Never ever been the case, don't believe everything you read. Just because the card reader isn't built into the chassis doesn't mean you can't get one, as Cougar says. I bought one from the States when I got my 3G iPhone, four years ago. That needed a dedicated app, and had to be charged up, but the camera kit reader is excellent, I regularly download the pics I take on my Lumix onto my iPad, because it's so easy to do any editing before uploading any I like onto the web. The beauty then is that they photostream and can be seen on my computer almost straight away.
And as for USB, what do you call that plug on the other end of the Dock cable? Sure looks like a USB to me, plus the kit I have has two 'dongles', one the card reader, the other a USB socket, so a regular cable will fit.

Never buy cards from supermarkets, they are always more expensive. An example, the card I've linked to is £13.49, for a 32Gb!
