Our walls had a polystyrene and foil lining paper on them over the fire place when we moved in.

Maybe yours does and the foil is reflecting the light in the room?

Glue in the wallpaper is probably phosphorescent. Sellotape is too, and can be made to glow by the processes of peeling it off the roll: The peeling transfers some energy into the glue causing it to emit a little light.

Lots of fungi are luminescent. Nothing to worry about, just a small bit of mould.

In the dark, crush a sugar cube in a pair of pliers. This may distract you from the alien monster in your chimney.

It's most likely a time field. Only way to be sure is to knock the wall down, and if the crack is still there you have your answer.

If its not, then I suggest your best apologetic face when you tell the Mrs the back end of the house is missing because of Doctor who. On the plus side, there is a small chance Amy Pond's bedroom could be on the other side of that crack..

It's an interdimensional opening to Springfield power plant. If you press your eye right up to the crack you might see homer

That was 2 hours ago. I'm saying he's slipped through a portal to a parallel universe.

Mods, should there be some kind of sticky about the dangers of messing with interdimensional phenomena?

The O.P. is probably battling Giant millipedes right now and is too busy to respond.
He'll probably be saved by a buxom lady wearing a hairy bikini or something......

Im in the man cave (cellar) most nights and have half the family here. Last night I could hear someone whistling underneath said bedroom which I thought was odd, so when I saw my mother I asked if she was trying to wake the whole house up whistling? Wasnt her.. Everyone else in bed asleep and this deffo came from the kitchen where she was. But she never whistles..

If you get a visit from…….

[img] [/img]

then you are ****ed !

and if she is closely followed by this guy…….

[img] [/img]

Then you are really ****ed and should call for…..

[img] [/img]

PS : FWIW I've found luminescent green/yellowish fungi (or rather mycelium growth) spread out over quite an area whilst out on night rides before, this was in one section of the galloway hills known as "the silver flow" which is a rather scary peat bog area in the absolute middle of nowhere - it looked like a humoungus spiders web trailed across the ground which (at the time) scared the shite out of me as i had absolutely no rational explanation as to why/what was happening.

I'm thinking were being trolled here...

No, I don't think anyone really knows what it is. Try peeling away what's covering it. Unless someone has buried a radiation source in your wall (seems unlikely), its probably harmless. If you can't see it in daylight with a torch and you're really scared then I suggest trying to find an organisation with a radiation detector. Local University?

Well? Was this a massive wind-up, did it turn out to be the doorway to Narnia or a portal to another dimension?

a portal to another dimension?

We'd have to go back to the forum pre-hack to find out how the story ends.
