Spotted a Lotus knocking around locally, but not a production model I'm aware of.

White Elise type central tub but with separate front and rear cycle wings in black, possibly carbon.

Private plate so no idea of the year - kit car or a production model? Prototype?

Any ideas?

A bit obvious, but not an Evora?

Nope.
Not one of the current range.

EDIT - Pictonroad's got it.

Never heard of the 340R before - off for a quick Google, thanks.

Damn, thought it was a new 7 pre production prototype
😀

That is properly ugly.
In my view, of course.

The new 7* is being done by caterham IIRC, and really is ugly.

*which is wierd as the "7" name was essentialy frozen in time in the 50's, there have been plenty of "new 7's" since then, IIRC even one of lotus' later cars was a streamlined 7 chassis.

You are wrong, it is teh awesooome. I'd love one. They are a bit better in the flesh though, more purposeful. Great track day car. A friend turned his Elise into a poor facsimile of one by putting it through a hedge.

Not so much fun in the rain mind.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder 🙂
They're absolutely fine in the rain...as long as you're going over 40.
Lots of them were tracked and modified. You could even buy "heated jackets" that plugged in to the 12 v socket if that was your thing.
As a Sunday car they're nice, but it's a bit of a weird one. Trying to be a stripped out racer, but the 7 is a better car in that respect. Nice for posing in but a (admittedly rare) 190 elise would be a better all-rounder.

This is the "updated" interpretation of the 340r - the 211; though not been in one of those.

I saw a brand new 2-11get side swiped right in front of me at a trackday, saw the owner later looking decidedly unhappy!
Might even have a vid buried somewhere.

My Elise was also actually better with the roof off, else it used to pool somewhere and drip in, so you're probably right.. Never quite got that to fit right, but I had a hardtop for the worst of the year.

I liked the almost beach buggy, lunatic look of the 340R, the 211 seems to be trying too hard to a racing car if you see what I mean.

I was going to express surprise, but then I realised it was actually released quite some time ago, and there aren't all that many around; I've only ever seen one in the wild.

Quirky, yes, ugly, no, there are far, far uglier cars around. I rather like its slightly bug-like 'face', puts me in mind of something... 😀
