You'll need to retrieve said mojo from Dr Evil's island. Baby.

I find I start looking for a new frame / bike to kick start my mojo again.

I have a road bike (well an old Zaskar with slicks on) aswell- my original excuse believe it or not was that it was too stinking hot and sunny and i was going to wait till the rain and mud came back!

My plan has failed- i live in a first floor flat and have an unsympathetic wife. Mud is always going to be bad with a beige carpet! And my cleaning equipment got stolen last time i left them in the downstairs electric cupboard.

Plan B will be thought of soon 😆

Just get on it and ride.
I can see why you'd lose it though, too much of a faff mtbing in this country.... Get yourself a road bike.

This.

It's reasonable weather this wkend. It can be hard to motivate yousrelf sometimes to get out but rarely have I come back feeling it was a WOT.

Buy some new kit, lid, gloves, watch some clips anything that will inspire you...It'll come back 😉

Morning all.

I did the camino del norte in July, normal local short hops just seemed tame in comparison so the bike sat gathering dust. Two weeks ago I became the proud owner of a magicshine 808 (other lights are available) and voila, mojo restored!

For the last couple of months I've mostly ridden road as I've been packing, preparing and doing a relocation to another country. MTBs arrive next weekend then it's back to it.

Something has occurred to me- today is a lovely sunny day, perfect for riding in. Yet here i am looking after the kids and doing family duties unable to go ride.
Monday to Friday is work. That leaves tomorrow. Guess what?
Sunday dinner at the in laws.
I have next Saturday and i bet it rains!

The penny has dropped i think.............

Hey ho. Mud is great and so is getting wet and cold!

Buy new tyres.

You probably need them anyway, and you'll have to go for a ride just to see how they handle.

Failing that, put a day aside, and just go ride somewhere. It gets harder as we get older, the weather gets meaner, and there is always something else that needs doing.

I have worked every morning for the past three weeks or so and been restricted to just riding my local woods as a result - which I am really sick of now.

Really looking forward to going somewhere else on a day off midweek even if it's just Epping!

My GF finally seems to understand that a few hours bike-time every weekend is ring-fenced, bar emergencies. If it isn't raining right now, just go out.

I just fitted some beefier tyres for the wet/mud/snow season - a 60a swampthing on the back to get some reliable uphill traction, and a 60a high-roller run at 28psi on the front - it's hard work pedalling, but there is grip again!

Get an early night, set your alarm for 7am and go out and ride.

You'll feel better.

I had this happen and it went on for almost 12 months, hardly biked at all, however slowly getting back there now, rode today, somewhere I haven't ridden in quite a while, really enjoyed it, maybe it subconsciously triggered the good memories or its just that I really enjoy ragging a bike downhill off road while the conditions are more suited to canoeing?
To recap, go ride your bike. Easier said than done, but try it.

got fed up of pushing excess me around, every hill was torture. OK so it always has been, but even more so at the heaviest I've ever been.

I haven't ridden since April

however, I have lost almost 2 stone since then, and that's 2 stone less of me to push uphill. now if I can lose another 2 stone, I'll be at a fighting weight (still heavy though) & I might just get the bike out... perhaps...

Sort out ring-fenced riding time with the wife. If it's far enough in advance she can't complain when the time comes.

of course, that's your riding time, so you'll HAVE to go out or it won't count for next time.

Arrange to ride with somebody. Old riding buddy? Someone off here, doesn't matter. Once it's arranged you'll have to go.

Enter a race. Then you have to go out to get fit.

1, 2 and 4 have worked for me. Good luck,

APF

I feel the same, my mojo has gone and as I tend also to ride solely with my husband who has also somewhat lost his mojo we haven't been out since we rode in the alps on our honeymoon in september. Feeling a bit pathetic and really really want to get out and get going but have seriously not got the confidence to ride alone or with a massive group of chaps. Dont really know any girls to ride with apart from one who goes with her boyfriend who just moans constantly.

The most difficult steps are the first few out the door.

Just do it.

This is a pursuit where mud, rain and wind just make things better.

But sometimes people lose the love for jobs, hobbies or people and it is time to move on

Perfect. I nipped out for some milk earlier on and took the long way round- it took me an hour and a half in all to do a 5 minute trip 😀

Granted Mrs Rossi was really cross, but that stolen hour in the dark was great! Maybe its the limited vision of my old Vistalights that did it.
Also the lack of hills on my route helped cos ive eaten a few pies....

Mojo restored for now, hopefully it'll stay when i have a go in the hills (it's gonna hurt! 😳 )
