Not to take away from the tradtdgedy of lose of life , but watching the video footage and on the BBC why are all the emergency vehicles Landrovers Bmw Audi, i thought the country was skint. Just a thought
Because they do huge discount on them they're bought as a massive job lot.
Because they got a nice backhander from BMW & VAG for the advertising?
Aside from the purchase discount, the whole life cost is far below 'lesser' badges as the vehicles are more reliable, more fuel efficient at higher speeds and have a stronger resale value. Saves the taxpayer a wad of cash and means the cars spend more time on the road than in the workshop. It's a win win but does provoke a bit of public / journalistic interest.
+1 downstep
Although I thought there were more reliable brands than Beamers - Japanese? But I guess they might not offer the same performance, chassis requirements, parts availability and end of service value. Etc
Non issue really - I take it people would quite like a first responder to get to them more quickly/reliably.
It's the same with corporate lease cars..
The in-srvice costs & resale value offset the initial purchase price.
