I'm disappointed... No picture of breakfast?
Nah, haven’t had any. I don’t normally, and the appeal of cold soggy toast isn’t exactly overwhelming.
TOE Fighter?
Obi Wan Kentoebi?
Anyway, more time to play 'This little piggy had his head smashed in by the SPG' and eat stew.
Toetally unnecessary jokes here boys, he hasn't worn shoes in a week. It might become a hobbit.
"Never mock a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes"
Wise words.
It's much safer to rip the piss out of someone if you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
Anyone local fancy popping in and nicking his shoes?
This could be fun.
Any CAT burglars or petty lacenists out there?
Anyone local fancy popping in and nicking his shoes?
😆 Bob did that yesterday! It was only cos the bloke across saw and told me that I knew and retrieved them from his bag!
He nicked both of them too! A man who was shortly to only have one foot stole both my shoes!
As long as he's h[s]o[/s]appy.
🙂
Have you ordered some SPD sandals yet?
And a nice new Surly Pack Rat to go with them?
Well, just had a looksee at my tootsie, (that made me smile more than it should have, but imma use it when the doc comes tomorrow...) and it’s looking several orders of magnitude better than when I came in, so as long as it fits in with the docs busy schedule, I reckon I’ll be home tomorrow. Assuming bob doesn’t pilfer my shoes...
Well shit.
Toe still attached. Healing well.
Doc wants to keep me in for 2-3 weeks as he reckons the only reason it has healed is cos I’ve been in hospital. Ie off my feet, and perfect diabetes control. Thinks I won’t have that if I go home due to work/life.
I’ve said I’ll WFH or have the time off if work aren’t happy with that (unpaid, as I’ve had 3 previous (single day) instances of sick in the last year, despite having only one in the preceding 8 years...) and be in regular contact with my usual diabetes nurses/doctors.
Negotiations to secure my freedom are ongoing... but looks like I’ll be in another night at least at this point.
oooff. bad luck.
I missed the diabetes bit too.
Other than having to be in hospital, is there any difference between IV and oral Flucloxacillin? They are saying I NEED to have it IV...
You toetally need to have the IV.
Im guessing its because your toe is not connected to your digestive system. Whereas it is connected to your vascular system.
They prescribed it orally the week before I came in...
2-3 weeks!!!? good god no.
I’m also wondering why I have to be in York. The doctor who has informed me of the above is the same chap I saw in Harrogate, and sent me to York... why can’t I be there as I’m not having any specialist treatment, just feet up and IV antibiotics. Or Leeds... or home...

Wound is dry now, and a fair bit smaller, only needing to be dressed every 3 days. For which I need to be in York hospital, over all others, for up to 3 weeks. 😐
Least it'll be sorted in time for chrimbo.
Just try not to stub your toe, as I reckon it'll sting a bit.
Has the doc explained or attempted to justify your prolonged stay in York?
The upside is.....you can post more food photos.
If you can manage financially, I’d be inclined to listen to the docs and stay put.
3 weeks is a pain, but in the grand scheme of things it’s much better than months of trouble if you go home and something happens.
Least it'll be sorted in time for chrimbo.
I wouldn’t be confident. This is the third extension to my stay and I’ve only been here a week. Chaps across from me seem to be in a much more severe condition, and they are getting told of delay after Delay, even on the day they were due to do surgery, one got delayed for a week.
If you're there longer, let us know and we'll send extra supplies.
Grot, wagon wheels etc.
Ahem . . .
"I think the reason it hasn’t healed quite as desired is that I haven’t been off my feet much the last couple of weeks, hence the enforced break"
OMG, i just clicked on your pic.. 😥
[puts down porridge]
ahem
I can sit on my arse and watch TV/play PlayStation/finish my Lego millennium falcon at home (I’m signed off work now so no issues there) reason I wasn’t off my feet previously was I wasn’t told to be, my toe was fully dressed and padded so assumed it would be fine.
Update on why I’m in York, apparently if you turn up to a clinician anywhere in North Yorkshire with a vascular issue (which this is, apparently not podiatry, who I was seeing before, in Harrogate) then you get sent to York, end of chat.
Glimmer of hope for release on Friday, going to speak with a micro biologist to see if I can trial oral antibiotics until Friday, and if they are happy with that, I’ll go home
wrong thread
‘I want to break free’ by Queen has just played on hospital radio.
I’ll just leave that there.
As long as they don't play "Hammer Toe Fall"
Day 10 of my [s]incarceration[/s] stay, still in bed, still on IV antibiotics with no definite release date. Asked a doctor for more details on the projected time scales a couple of days ago, and she was, seemingly deliberately, vague having said that it was a six week course of antibiotics, though that wasn’t necessarily all to be IV. When pressed as to when the IV would be stopped, lots of phases like ‘let’s keep on them for now’, ‘we’ll see’ and ‘maybe’.
*starts looking for places to hang Xmas decorations*
[sliver lining] got a previously made appointment in a different dept this morning, so a change of scenery for a couple of hours at least. Yay.
[\silver lining]
It’ll be like that film where that guy ended up living in an airport for 5 years.
Think it was based on a true story.
Edit: Facts: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_who_have_lived_at_airports
Was he told he’d only be there for a couple of days initially too?
Some assumed so it seems. One guy was there for 17yrs.
Not sure how his toes were.
Is this helping?
Toetes
Well, today has taken an interesting turn. My appointment was with the eye dept, who I’ve been seeing for a while for a corneal issue that won’t finally heal.
As I’m in hospital for the foreseeable, the ophthalmologist thinks it would be of benefit to sew the eye shut, temporarily. He’s chatting to the plastic surgeon as I type.
Pretty sure that gives us a whole new avenue of punning to wander down. Gentlemen, ladies, you know what to do. I’ll keep (half) a look out for good ones.

....but not very well?
