Running out of time and ran out of patience for the ICTRC website ages ago, does anyone have a functioning Cleartrip account or ICTRC that I can use please?

Or can we have a chat and you book for me (reimbursed in advance)

The ICTRC website only accepts american express which I dont have and every time I try and link my cleartrip account to my ICTRC account it resets and resends my bleeding passwords (to an imaginary phone!)

Probably of no help at all, but seat61 (google it) usually has info on this sort of thing.

How far in advance are you booking? Will you have time when you get there to book it (less likely for the expresses and/ or better classes, obviously)?

Yeah seat61 was very helpful but didn't have a full solution sadly.

I arrive on Thursday and need to train that weekend so would imagine would be fairly booked up if left that late.

What.a ball ache!

Cancel that, I haven't used my account in a couple of years and it turns out I need to link my account to ICTRC or something and it wont work, which is presumably the same problem you are having. Sorry!

Was going to suggest seat 61 as well but I see it's (unusually) not able to sort you out. Good luck!

You could simply try getting on the train you wish to travel on?

If there's a spare bunk space (which there will be in First Class, possibly not in Second), you will have to pay a fine to the guard and will be allowed to stay on the train, which I think was about a tenner's worth IIRC.

I did this a few years back, having got on as an unbooked Third Class passenger for an overnight journey. By about 9pm though, I couldn't cope with the crazy cramped standing conditions any longer and bailed to the Second Class carriages, whereupon I had to pay a fine and had the privilege of sleeping on a space on the floor in the carriage.

It wasn't much fun, but did get me to where I wanted to get to... ๐Ÿ˜€

If you did the same thing in First, I reckon there would be a bunk spare though (and probably a slightly bigger fine!).

Get on the train when you get there?
If it is a sleeper, then my father who lives in India may be able to help a booking....
