I remember most of these but one I've not seen mentioned was by the swede (I think) complaining about the lack of stand over height for his lady friend.

My vote for funniest thread ever would have been during the London Olympics opening ceremony. Was almost breathless between laughing and reading posts out to my Missus and daughter who were similarly in fits.

I've been on here for a while but don't know where baby Robin comes from?
The allotment / Israeli thread was good

I don't remember the Olympics thread. How did I miss it?

My favourite thread was the reading material in the toilet thread. It was brilliant!

The only sad part is that after someone mentioned 'intermediate wipe', the cat picture that someone else responded with is no longer visible.

Something like this:

Weirdly I've checked this forum pretty much every day since the early 2ks. Back then people used to correct people's grammar on the internet... imagine. I used to contribute stupidity under various usernames a long time ago. My favourite moments include:
- The prawn posting a link to an online "epilepsy test"
- Blackgem - still not sure if that was a genius troll or what
- The musings of Richard vine

Epic, actually it’s a toss up between that thread and Sudo Cat..

But you had to both Watch and be online to get the full effect..

Such fun.

Still follow Samuri on strava.

661 / chasetrailsalex now drives an ambulance as far as I can tell from his FB news feed!

I always found the LGOM or IGOM(?) troll amusing but can't quite remember the details any more. Something about horses in the New Forest.....

I see the whole Cannock Chase permit trolling was foreshadowing as you can now actually buy one 😀

According to this thread: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/how-long-have-you-been-frequenting-the-forum

I stumbled across stw around 05/06, and I remember registering at a specific work place which would make it 11-12 years ago which is about right. I was having problems with hope ti skewers and someone at the bike shop told me to check out a thread on some forum....

Is that long enough to make me 'longstanding' ?

14 12 years here.

Not seen the break in/owning with bombers thread mentioned where the OP got upset people thought it funny.

And that Kylie lady.

The whole Fruit thing was fun, told my mate who has SS wheels about the rock incident and then there were those brake pads that weren't so useful.

The hacking - really want to know how that ended up as the hacker was found.

The rich elite (TJ?) - can't remember the definition though but most people I know were probably included.

Oh and there was a girl who decided to post a photo of herself to prove she was pretty. Brave girl.

Rich elite. Yes that was me. Its one of those things people do not seem able to understand and it was my reaction to someone saying (IIRC) £50 000 pa meant they were poor. I merely pointed out earning that much puts them in the richest 10% of the population. IIRC they were whinging about the 40% tax rate

Not due until January 2007, we've plenty of time yet.

Just realised I've been on here over 15 years

About 15 years for me, IIRC, some time in 2003. When I’ve got a couple of hours free I’ll wade through the Badger thread, I have fond memories of the ever-more bizarre ‘shopped photos, and gasping for breath from laughing.
Same with Sudocat, and the Wife-fi one was a work of sublime comedy genius.
Ah, good times... 😀

And let's not forget the teen angst of big mike aka Mike and his crush Louisa bliggy.

I don't know what happened to Mike, though I have wondered lately, I think he became a fancy chef. Louisa is now a lawyer.

I joined in 2002. There was some great stuff in the days when you could change the user names but I think the Houns Gym Girl thread with the rohyppocinos was my all time favourite.

Anyone remember Justa? New bike every other week and would avoid getting them dirty/chipped etc because of resale value...... Tyre tread cleaned with a toothbrush after every ride.

Would rave about a bike he owned then sell it as soon as a bike mag didn't give it top scores.

Made some of the current serial bike swappers look like amateurs.

Justa was great. I got some 2nd hand parts off him. You could guarantee they'd be in superb condition.

around 20 to 25 years here i think, maybe more not sure. it was after the gofar(?) days but not toooo long after. throughout that time this forum has been a big part of my life, reading it most days and getting soooo much useful information from it. it must have saved me hundreds if not thousands of £s from the invaluable advice and experience on here. so much so i sometimes think i really should chuck them a voluntary contribution every now and then but never get round to it 😳

yes theres the odd thread that has me howling from time to time, it can be comedy gold 😆

i rarely ride these days but ill always be a member of the forum. i honestly think id be a bit lost without it, well played to mark, chipps and the crew, plus the mods for keeping it decent. chapeau to you all.

Been here since GoFar on and off - I subscribed as the mag thing started as a pitch on here to get it off the ground - no idea how long, but I'm thinking 19 odd years?

Whatever happened to Blackgem?

Was that the penis beaker?

Speaking of Mumsnet, remember someone (Cynic-al? maybe) infiltrating their ranks with a troll post that ran and ran? Something to do with issues with their mimsy or some such.

The thread I was sad to see reach it's natural conclusion was that one of McMoonter's when he had some storm damaged trees to deal with.

And pretty much every other McMoonter thread when I think about it.

Been here a while, but not as long as most.

I've been here since I was young (ish) care-free and had no kids, so its at least 14 years

So many highlights but the above-mentioned Mumsnet ;taking it up the wrong'un; raid was genius. Was it Hora who started that?

been here since ca. 2004 when I was young(ish) free and single living it up in Zurich

now old knackered and tied down in Norway with kids - but loving it really, except the old bit

best threads for me are always the "doing stuff" threads of McMoonter and any thread with photos of the outdoors and lifestyles

really? that surprises me. i was sure i used it back in my first job mid-nineties or so. i tied it to around the same time my mate bought an old kona cindercone (bright blue) and got me into mtb'ing, maybe i had a few biking years without the forum then 🙂

thanks

EDIT: i also thought there was chit-chat about whether the forum would go t1ts up over the millenium. again, must have been mistaken. when was the big forum crash?
