Travelling through London tomorrow afternoon / evening, crossing from W'loo to KX

Normally I'd do Bakerloo to Oxford Circus and then Victoria to KX, but while the crossing lines bit is dead easy it's a fair walk from the tube to the rail station. But my daughter had an appendix out a week ago and while mobile, isn't up to walking far / fast.

Is there a better tube route with less walking even if it's more stops?

Alternative is a cab, but at around 5pm on Friday and an hour to make it from train arriving at W'loo to train leaving at KX, is that too short?

Sensible thoughts/advice welcome.......

Northern line probably a bit better....
Taxi would be ok from Waterloo to kx.

Bus is normally better for less changes and walking but if you are short of time a taxi will do that easily.

N.Line doesn't go from W'loo to KX though....... W'loo branch goes to Euston.

I think it'll be taxi....

It's a short transfer hence the suggestion. Better than bakerloo line.

just looked at the map, see what you mean....... so trf N.Line to N.Line at Euston? I thought that involved stairs which aren't good?

Take a sherbet (cab), the tube will be very busy and your daughter will get knocked about. I work on the tube and this is a busy time of year, especially on a Friday evening.

If you do insist on the tube then Waterloo and City line to Bank then Northern line to KX, but a cab is a better option if she's still delicate.

Or a short cab ride to Blackfriars (south entrance) then jump on a train, no jostling, a lift or escalators and no long walks.

Where are you coming in from?
How about Vauxhall to Kings Cross on the Victoria Line. Vauxhall is step-free.
Otherwise Northern line to Warren Street and change to Victoria line. Or Leicester Square and change to Piccadilly line.

Woking, most trains don't stop at Vauxhall but that's an option. But still leaves the longish walk at KX from the Victoria tube end.

On your others - if you use NL to Warren St, then you should use Bakerloo and change at Oxford Circus - someone on here gave me that tip a while ago, the two platforms are adjacent.

Your first idea was best if you use the right exits.

Bakerloo from Waterloo. Some underground distance but there's a travelator and no steps. Stand middle of platform.

Change at Oxford Circus. Easiest change on the underground - just walk the 10m if that down one of the several tunnels that connect to the N bound victoria line platform.

Turn left and walk to the end of the platform to get in the end carriage of the victoria line train. Off at king's X, exit immediately in front of you for pentonville rd. One escalator straight ahead. Unfortunately there is a short flight of stairs to street level, but the station is right in front of you. In through the out door and away...

15 mins.

The tube is a pretty miserable way to travel if you've just had an operation. An Uber will take less than an hour, even in rush hour.

we managed to swing away slightly early so got to W'loo about 1615, means the tube was an easy option using the recommended short cuts above and not very busy at all so not too much walking and seats for her on all the trains.

The 1819 out of KX though...... although we'd booked well in advance and had reserved seats, we had to kick someone out of them. As did several others, which led to some awkward moments. What is etiquette, yes I'd 'usually' give up my seat to a lady or a person less able to stand than me but the whole carriage was reserved seats, is it right for people to get on without reservations and then huff when people want the seats they've booked and paid for... or should they be confined to dishing out the emotional blackmail in the unreserved coaches. And in any case, they were literally nose to tail through just about every coach anyway, so despite having paid £277 for 4 tickets, my wife and I had 3 hours of having someones arse / rucksack in our faces. I know it's a busy service on Friday night but FFS, that was ridiculous, the 'benefit' of train travel of space, ability to get up and move about, have a coffee from the buffet car, and so on, totally unavailable.

At least the weekend was brilliant - best small city in the UK, 'private' tour of the Castle (closed to visitors for a college event but being alumni I blagged entry and did the tour myself) visit to the cathedral (been in there many times but never fail to be blown away) - good food, some beers at a mate's 50th, and then train back was how it should be......

I’m sure Virgin will be releasing video to show that your train was not crowded at all 🙁
