tried to post a proper video link but didnt work. Tell you what though. They had a couple of albums a few years back that were meant to be depeche mode esk. So to be going to back to this vocal style is a massive difference from then.

I'm a bit indifferent to their new stuff at the moment. I loved everything up to and including Draconian Times, and Tragic Idol was pretty good too, but that just seems a little bland.

new album is meant to be more varied. some gruff vocals and clean singing as well. apparently according to the guitarist this is the slowest song they have ever done.

Another new one.

mix of vocal styles

Yup, from around these parts. One member used to live in Tod years ago.

Our lasses best mate from years ago was after the singer. Think he had a lucky escape 😆

Originality not their strong point

Wow, that brings back some memories. Used to know Aaron Aedy back in the day, he used to live somewhere Hebden Bridge area and drank Guinness in the Upper George in Halifax. Always skint, said he would buy me a few beers back when they got famous 🙄

On the contrary: They've always had a very distinctive sound. However, that new one doesn't seem to be quite as distinctive, which is one of the things that leaves me cold about it.

Actually they havent done anything like this since the first two albums of a 14 album career. They have been a pretty original band for a genre defining group.

Talking of Guiness. Bought Aaron a pint of it back in this club in Halifax years ago. Was it called Fat Freddies ????
