Having a rubbish moment in time, looking for restoration for my faith in humanity.
Anybody know of some "well, that was effective" short films to serve as a reminder that the big picture is bigger than these doldrums...
Go watch LifeCycles. That always makes me smile.
And go phwoaaar! at Matt Hunter. 😆
i saw this recently which is the first short film in ages that has really inspired me. Unfortunately the link is just to a trailer on YT. There is a link there to rent it on Vimeo if you like. Not much happens, there is no gnarly rad downhill but life affirming it is imho
Birthright
Blue Chopper - A story about Love and Bicycles
'Being Elmo' - absolutely glorious film, trailer here:
Loving these so far
Yozhik v Tumane (The Hedgehog In The Fog)
Oddly, it seems more about being overwhelmed by "the big picture" and being OK with "the doldrums", but there's something really comforting about it. One of my absolute favourite films ever, short or feature-length, animated or live action.
EDIT: just watched it again. Maybe it is about the bigger picture, and the hedgehog wandering from his normal path shows a hint of his desire for a greater part in the grand scheme of things. So many ways to interpret it.
😀
This moves me deeply, every time I watch it. Getting a lump in my throat just thinking about it.
Mickey Smith, Dark Side of the Lens.
