I'm looking at putting on a film night, at a local venue - it's going to be for commercial reasons.

Do I go directly to the film maker (US based I believe), or is there a UK based organisation i need to get in touch with?

My google-fu seems to be letting me down 🙁

I think you need to find out if the film currently has a distributor in the uk. If yes you would need to deal with them, if no talk to the films owners and find out if they are happy for you to operate as the distributor (for one night only)

You may also need a licence from the local council. Suspect these are not cheap.

Just had a look at PRS / Filmbank website: £83 + VAT or 35% of box office for up 200 people.

My local cinema (duke of yorks in Brighton - part of the picture house chain) will I think let you put on a film of your choice, sell tickets etc

So probably worth talking to your local non multiplex if you have one,
