Pulled up the drive after todays ride to meet a chap walking down the side of my house. Shared driveway which runs length of house between myself and neighbour. "Can I help?" was met by - "Only me! - I live a few doors down and just planted a leylandii on this common land so that I can get a bit more privacy in my garden, which is 4 gardens to the right. "

He was amazed that I would object and seemed so sure this was a marvellous idea.

I cannot quite believe he had the idea that going up another persons driveway and planting a ticking timebomb, could seem a good one and then when approached by owner of land, by chance – try to explain what a fantastic thing he had done.

So angry, I asked wife to “negotiate” with nutter or I would go a more direct route with Bombers. He has now dug up the tree. Well done Mrs Wally.

Really?
Ever heard the phrase "don't sh1t on your own doorstep"
Remember kids, a Japanese knotweed is for life, not just for Christmas.

Only one thing for it - rhodedendrons spliced to japanese knotweed, crossed with cannabis plants.

sounds like he's not of this planet. Why plant trees 4 doors from your garden to get privacy. Surely you'd put them in your own garden?

So the Leylandii was just a decoy then ? I guess he thought no one would suspect anything if they saw him just planting a tree - crafty.

Do you know what time it was set to go off ?

and you're telling me you've never ridden on a footpath?

This is the guerilla gardening equivalent.

I think he's playing the long game...
[IMG] [/IMG]

We have two big ones at the front and back of our house.. Lovely big things but need a LOT of work to keep them at a respectable height.. Let the back one go for 2 years and it got to about 20ft plus high!!
