You’re cooking them wrong,

Roasted in among the pigs in blankets, with some bacon off cuts and a few pine nuts. Still tasted like the entrails of the Predator.

Fresh sprouts (especially baby sprouts) = lovely. Just steam them. They don't need much more than that. Frozen sprouts? Bleurgh. No idea why, they just are.

@matt_outandabout, you need to get yourself up to the Coorie Inn in Muthill before they shut for 5 weeks in yhe New Year. Their sprouts are lush (had them yesterday ... yum).

Try explaining to mrs_oab that... It's like one day I'll enjoy eating my own vomit, if I try it enough...

I like them any way. But I really like them finely sliced and quickly stir fried with smoked pancetta, garlic , chopped chestnuts and a dash of cream.

Delicious (but quite rich).

Turkey is a bit rubbish. Chicken is superior.

I'm no fan, bit baffled by the stength of the love/hate debate.
Mostly by those who think they are delicious, but only eat them at xmas..?

Fried sprouts are wonderful, used them in a few "fajita surprise" dinners over the past month or so.

The problem with sprouts is people cooking them until translucent, my Nan used to start the sprouts at the same time as the Turkey, absolutely horrible. Cracking roasties though.

Who doesn't like bacon, garlic and cream?

Sprouts are only good for one thing. Boiled to death they make great food fight weapons. Enough structural integrity to hold together when thrown but then splat well on hitting target. Do take quite a while to clean up though!

Love sprouts cooked properly. Ideally involving bacon, cream, garlic....

For the first time in years we had turkey today. It's just a big chicken, no idea why there's such a fuss.

I think sprouts are one of those things that contain a chemical that only some folk can taste - and its vomit inducing if you can.  Hence the split in opinion.

I know this place both loves and hates a bit of pointless pedantry, so can I just point out that it’s Brussels, not Brussel. Have a lovely leftovers day regardless.

Sprouts and turkey are lovely . The problem is that an awful lot of people people over cook them. It's not so bad now people buy boneless turkey crowns which are easier to cook properly but when I was living with my parents, many years ago, the 15lb ish turkey went in the oven on Christmas eve and came out on Christmas day lunchtime. For that reason I always thought that it was a dry crumbly meat.

Catapult ammunition. Just get it far away, as quickly as possible.

If there were a major event like nuclear attack or asteroid strike, it would be the only foodstuff left in the supermarket, mostly untouched.

Along with Bombay mix.
