I stand up all day and come the afternoon my 3rd and 4th toes ( big is 1st)are pushing down to the floor. This was also a problem when I used spds but went away with flats.
On further investigation I could pick a pencil up with my good foot ,whereas my bad foot the toes can’t bend to grasp.
The bad foot is attached to my bad leg which has a tight itb. A man showed me a stretch to fix the top of my leg but obviously I need a stretch to sort the lower.
Any ideas of what I can try to get flexibility back before I see a professional?
Its not ,hammer ,mallet or claw toes .
Quite possibly. Nearly 61.
Is your big toe able to bend well? If not it sounds like hallux rigidus (or limitus), but if it's only the smaller toes then I guess not. But anyway! There are foot stretches and mobility exercises for that which I think would apply well for all of 'em.
Something that's working for me at the moment (broken fib/tib and in a cage) is to sit on the floor, leg locked at the knee, then grab my toes and pull them back towards me. Its part hamstring stretch, but also I can feel the stretch in the bottom of my foot. The physios are doing it every week, and it makes my ankle feel freer, so I'm doing it at home too. Also try rolling your foot around on a tennis ball?
Toe yoga on YouTube?
Saw a professional and her diagnosis was that I'm old and sit down more often.
Rolling you foot around on a tennis ball is pretty effective and loosening feet up.
Have you considered a standing desk pad?
