Hi.
Wanted to get some budget colour changing LED tape compatible with Google speaker thing for my daughter's bedroom.
Can't seem to find one that will work with our 5GHz WiFi. Anyone had any success?
Cheers in advance

Why not use the 2.4ghz on your router for this? Most are (and work dual band) these days. Unless I'm missing something?

I had the same issue using ROBUS led strip lights. Refused to connect to the router and phone. Swapped to 2.4 ghz and boom . Connected straight away .
Not much help but as above worth trying,

Most cheap wifi devices are 2.4Ghz - never seen any LEDs that aren't! Any reason you can't enable it on your router?
Philips Hue would work but, not a cheap option!

If not all then the vast majority of Wi-Fi based IoT devices require 2.4GHz. It's simpler, cheaper, has longer range and doesn't need a high-speed connection.

I fixed all my smart home weirdness at a stroke by adding a dedicated router into the mix just for IoT devices. It's an astonishingly good bit of kit.

Because some cheap (and not so cheap, looking at you £400 aquarium doser) IOT devices require the 2.4 and 5.0 bands to be split into separate SSIDs which is pretty annoying/impossible on some routers.

Yeah this.
Some googling reveals my BT router won't let me control this and it chooses. Might have an old 2.4 to add to the system as suggested above.
Thanks all
