After watching the mighty Elbow at glasto on iplayer, I'm inspired to use a forthcoming birthday to pick up a keyboard and try and learn to play.

Any tips? I learned the piano up to grade 3 way back in the day so can read music, but could do with some good resources for learning again.

And any recommendations on an instrument to buy? Budget is ~£100

Thanks hivemind!

Si

Semi-serious suggestion,

Ok, it's a game peripheral, but it's actually quite a clever way of learning to play properly if you put it in 'pro' mode.

Though, at grade 3, you're probably looking for something a bit more serious...!

In order of importance (IMO) you'll want to look for full size keys, weighted action and touch/velocity sensitivity.
For your budget you'll only get an approximation of a realistic sound but enough to know if you want to go further.

Try http://www.soundonsound.com/ for a helpful forum, plenty of reveiws/articles and a good selection of s/h gear in the classifieds.

And if you want to scare yourself with the variety/price of new gear http://www.dv247.com/ has a good range with pretty competitive pricing
