Managed to knock our Bosch smart TRV breaking the plastic connector - a very weak point 🙄

Got a replacement which just screws on, all set up following Bosch instructions ok. However its now leaking, but I can't understand why. Surely the TRV just pushes the pin on the valve down to close flow? Without the TRV the radiator stays on, and doesn't seem to be weeping. If I push the pin down water seeps out. Does this mean the valve is knackered? Cos that's a plumber job to fix 😪

Sounds like the valve has a slow leak. When the TRV is open then water will just run through the rad, but when the valve is closed the valve can't handle the pressure building up, and leaks.

Or the pin is slightly bent.

I'd nip up the connections between the valve and the rad and the valve and the downpipe to check its not those that also took a whack

With the TRV removed and the valve open theres no leak - so I guess not connections. Slightly bent pin sounds plausible - which is a big fix unfortunately!

Pop some tissues over each of the joints to see which one is weeping. Then nip that joint up. Repeat to ensure the leak has stopped. Don't just go cranking on a 1/4 turn or the olive will be destroyed.
