I rode the Le Semnoz this summer, and as I am laid up with a bad back I finally finished a little post about it on my blog. I blog about as fast as I climb....

So I thought I would post it here in case any folks were interested, you know a blog post about an alpine road climb, with winter already underway. Its all about timing.

I actually wish I had the MTB with me on that trip as the VTT looked excellent, I did actually have some cross tyres with me, which would easily have sufficed, next time!

Thanks, good write-up. I rode it in summer 2013 with all the TdF gubbins still around, which was quite cool.

Thanks. A mate did a climb there training for the etape, he said it was partly on closed park roads - same one / different route ?

That sounds very cool. Closest I have managed was the last part of the 2014 TDF London stage on my Brompton. Did you resist the temptation to throw your bottle when empty?

I think that is the eastern side of the mountain, this was all main roads, albeit quiet ones.

Ha! No, I kept it with me. I think I rode it the other way round to you, starting near the bottom end of the lake and ending in Annecy. I recall a ride on the other side of the lake which went up to the paraglider take-off point, it had one really sharp gradient near the top - not as long overall but still tough.

Nice write up. I rode that but climbed from St Jorioz then descended the road you did. Lovely wee climb.

Set the scene for doing Col du Telegraphe & Gallibier a day or so later.
