Seems to be out of fashion nowadays in favour of vanish whatnot. I got some pasta sauce on a white shirt and after washing there's an imprint of the stain in a sort of grey shade.
Is there any point in trying to find actual bleach?

No, unless it's 100% cotton.

Just use normal bleach diluted down
