Aging laptop with Windows 10. Not getting passed Welcome screen. Suspect it has been dropped. Any ideas?

Arguably a bad combination, does machine have enough RAM and is HDD large enough / running well enough for latest OS ?

Yep. It just briefly shits the bed if you drop it.
