Evening all,

Wondering if anyone can offer any advice to some dodgy audio goings-on on my Windows 8.1 Laptop?

In a nutshell non of my audio files will play on any player (windows media/realplayer/VLC), and I'm also getting a break up in sound when I play anything online.

Drivers/System are all up to date.

Thanks in advance!

What does it say in device manager under the sound heading?

Intel(R) Display Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio

Both of which read "This device is working properly."

cheers

Have you tried removing and re-installing the software for both of the devices ?

Are you unable to open/play the files, or can you just not hear them?

unable to play, error messages across all audio platforms.

FWIW, I've just copied my music onto USB and it plays on the uni desktop just fine. It's as though something on the laptop is preventing them being played (along with the random breaking up of all audio)

Strange one, just adds to windows 8 annoyance...
