There was a time I'd have loved a classic rally car project like this.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1977-RANGE-ROVER-2-DOOR-CLASSIC-1ST-BRITISH-TEAM-TO-COMPLETE-PARIS-DAKAR-RALLY-/321046106453?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4abfd6d155

I think a Range Rover is a more practical proposition for a classic rerun of Paris Dakar than....

Would be a lovely motor but restorations not my style 🙂

What a sad outcome for a historic motor

Deserves to be in the dunsfold collection tbh.

would love it, though would love any restored 70/80's rangie (friend has restored a couple).
Trouble is with anything 'nice', it'd be wasted on me as I slowly but steadily destroyed it with over-use and neglect (let alone restoration costs and petrol!)

+1

I always had a soft spot for the Darien Gap Range Rovers.

Awesome, already at serious money (for a classic) so looks like a proper enthusiast
will get it.
Darien Gap, now we're talking. I have the book about the expedition, such a huge undertaking for LR in them days

It's @ £5100 now, any bets on what it'll make in the end?

It'd be nice and fitting for such a historic vehicle if it went above 10 k, but so long as it goes to someone who will restore it back to its former glory I don't think it matters.

£6200 final bid. I wonder what it would take to fully restore it?

Probably the same again in parts and some serious fab skills to put it back to dakar specification

Looks in not too bad nick in the photos but im yet to see one without rotten sills and bootpan.

Amaizing what can be done , fella showed a fully restored a csk in lrm a couple months back , crazy how much work went into it - worth it though on such a rare motor,
