Apologies if already covered, I did a search and couldn't see anything.

Seems like a heart attack was the culprit.

Sad times.

Sad times. But if I had pick a time and place to cash in one's chips then descending a trail in the lakes whilst being amongst friends and family would be high up on my list of choices. Rip fella.

Very much my thoughts, having lost my wife and pretty much everyone in my family.
The thought of passing away while enjoying myself is very comforting rather than in a slow painful way in hospital.

I nearly had a heart attack cycling up that bloody thing!
A wonderous descent however.

Awful for his family and friends, but it's definitely a good way to see yourself out

Sad for his friends and family but we've all got to go at some point. As others have said, not a bad way given the alternatives.

When my time comes, I'd like it to be something similar, although after the effort if getting up there, I do hope it's closer to the bottom than the top. No one wants to waste a decent.

Spelling aside, that's peak STW. Nice one Onzadog 🙂

RIP dude and thoughts to friends and family particularly those with him that day.

We passed the incident coming down. The helicopter had come over us when we were at the top, about to descend, so we knew something had happened. They were doing CPR when we reached the incident, and it was clearly a bad situation, so we didn't stay long. It wasn't clear to us if he'd crashed or just had (some sort of) heart attack. Sounds like the latter. Poor fella.

Confirmed on another article I read from a person related to the deceased. Note the title of the article is 'incorrect'. https://www.grough.co.uk/magazine/2020/07/15/lakeland-mountain-biker-dies-after-crashing-on-walna-scar-track

RIP fella - thoughts with family and friends. I’d agree it’s not the worst way to go but can still be traumatic for those left behind, esp those at the scene.
