planning a trip to Lake Garda in April - probably flying into Bergamo and staying in Desanzano area for 5-6 days and then a night or two in Bergamo before heading backÂ
would like to hire bikes for easy leisure cycling around the lake (probs ebike for Mrs V)
any tips/insights on nice bike friendly hotels? Bike hire places? Ride routes?Â

The cycling around the lake is not fabulous as the proposed "skyway" bike path has not been completed. There's a decent ride into Verona or to Mantua (train return via Verona from Manuta). There's the option of a bigger day out with a ferry ride to Riva and then cycle to Trento along the old railway line (train return via Verona again though).
Otherwise the lake side roads are a bit busy with some 'interesting' driving standards on display.
It's a few years since we were there, and didn't cycle. The eastern shore is gentler sloped, so probs easier for leisure cycling I suspect. On the western shore it gets v steep and rocky further north so cycling is tougher. There were lots of roadies heading up some of the local climbs on that side. Â
Go and watch some Serie A if that’s remotely your thing. Como, Atalanta and Verona all in that area.
