Me and Mrs Rascal staying next Weds - anywhere nice where there's a decent/pretty low-level walk nearby. Pref not Keswick/Ambleside as done in to death, or Windermere (cos it's shite ).
Budget @ £100. Recommendations welcome 😀

Stayed at Howe Farm just south of Hawkshead a couple of years back. Really good hosts, felt looked after but not intruded upon.

The B&B & pub at wasedale head is nice, walk the length of the lake to the two other pubs at the other end, on the scree side if you're daring.

I've never stayed at the Britannia Inn Elterwater but its a great pub with great walks

Moving up in budget is Eltermere Hotel. Parents and sister have stayed there and rate it

I always recommend The Kirkstile Inn in Loweswater. It's a bit isolated but it's in the most beautiful part of the lakes with the breathtaking Ennerdale not being far away and the food and beer is absolutely perfect!

Just don't look towards Whitehaven or ahem, Sellafield.

Cuckoo Brow Inn (think thats it) in Sawrey. Flippin brilliant and they don't mind sopping wet mountain bikers pottering around in their (wet) socks and leaving shoes to dry out in front of the open fire.

New default choice for staying in that part of the Lakes...

Oh, and its literally 15 seconds ride from the car park to the first bit of BW into Claife Heights.

The Wild Boar Inn. Great walks through ancient woodland right out the back door. Top notch scran.

After a lot of careful consideration we've decided on the Cuckoo Brow in Far Sawrey. Booked up and can't wait - looks the nuts! Nice one DaveyBoyWonder 😉

Have you thought about South Lakes? Somewhere in Ulverston which is having a walking festival next week. I would highly recommend the Farmers Arms pub in Baycliff.
