So, a friend got his missus one for crimbo and i thought oohh that's pretty good especially for the £££!

I started doing some research on what they can/cant do and they do seem to be one of the better bits of kit. However, one review did a comparison on Video qulaity only being at around 8fps, as opposed to around 20fps for the Nexus 7 - does this frame rate transfer over when you plug it into a tv using the HDMI ports??

i only want one as a quick web browser when on the sofa, check personal emails and to watch movies on the TV with (bit of porn obviously too)..

Can i get better for ~£160??

ta all,

I've got one, I've got an ipad 2 and a Samsung galaxy s2 as a phone which I basically the same as a tab that makes calls.
the kindle fire hd really is worth every penny. screen is amazing. the Dolby sound actually works as it should. the only downside is they modified the android o/s to look better but restricts apps but that's so easy to get around its not worth worrying about.

I got the wife one for Christmas. She's happy with it, so must be decent enough and the screen quality is great.

No idea about connecting to a TV.

The Nexus 7, annoyingly, doesn't support MHL (which is HDMI over USB).

Nexus 7 or have a look at the galaxy tab 2 - the 10.1" is a nice compromise.

Im wondering about this too. I cant see what advantages the Nexus 7 has over the Kindle Fire HD (to make it worth 40 quid more anyway).

I had a quick play in the shop between ipad mini, nexus and kindle. The nexus seemed like the ipad ,(which is a good thing) where as the kindle seemed a level below.

I tried 2 before i asked for a refund as the hdmi port kept breaking.

Also can't get 4OD (no flash allowed on it) but there is a iPlayer app so you can get watch the beeb.

Touch screen was a bit unresponsive/inaccurate too.
