Took our eldest (2.5) out for a spin in a Hamax Siesta that we got from ebay. The first thing that struck me was how unbalanced the bike feels with a rear mounted seat! Very un-nerving. Then he started trying to tickle me and was generally wriggling around, at which point the frame was flexing so much it felt like it was going to bend in two!
I guess I'll get used to the unbalanced feel but is my frame going to snap?! Bike is a '93 or thereabouts Kona so skinny steel frame, I had to pack the seat tube out with an old inner tube to get the Hamax clamp thing to fit.
We've always used a WeeRide Kangaroo, which the youngest will now go into. Would have got another but I think the eldest will feel too cramped. The only other option appears to be a basic saddle fitted to the top tube with some foot pegs. Great idea but they tend to fall asleep on the bike sometimes, not sure that would be very secure.
