Rosthwaite campsite near honister. Always stay there myself when up there. no need to book.
Would recommend lane foot farm at Braithwaite about one mile from keswick. Run by top bloke Gareth and his family. Lets you have fires! You can also tan it down the bridleway from whinlater trail centre if you've been there.
Obviously loads of quality natural riding too...
+1 for lane foot farm, always packed with mtbers when we've been. The sustrans route goes right by too.

Another +1 for lane foot farm, great place to stay, easily walkable to pubs in Braithwaite if you need too.
+ 1 lanefoots but make sure you get a flat pitch
