Off up to the festival for a long weekend, my first time there. Got a few talks already booked, are there any recommendations for stuff going on that I should look out for?

Anyone going? I’ll be on my Jack, and staying outside of Kendal so any nightlife action will have to be beer free 😐

I'm doing the trail run 10k on the Saturday morning up there and staying over in Windermere for the weekend. Will try and do something related to the festival if there's any general/free stuff on during the sat afternoon even if its just having a pint there after the race

I'm going with my son who's a keen runner. I hoped to do the 10k run with him, but it's 14 and over only, so we're just supporting friends who are doing it instead. Still, plenty to do and see and there is generally a good buzz about the town so we always enjoy it.

There'll be a couple of bits that aren't part of the festival, for example Glisky are showing some bike films this evening and No Hands Rest is a coffee shop with a photo exhibition.

Plas y Benin tent is usually very good for smaller talks.

If you see a skinny, bald, old bloke wandering about on Saturday with two border collies come and say hello - it could well be me!

I was there last night for the cycling session evening, including talks by Ed Clancy, Lizzie Deignan, plus others, (link below for info), it was good to hear the pros but also great to here other tails of cycling, including a couple who went round the world on a tandem and got Guinness world record; someone who did the Pan Celtic Race and only started cycling around 3-4 years ago aged about 40! and a chap who did the 7600 km across the continent — European Divide Trail...in about 30 days!!

Weekend looks good BUT you can also but an eticket thing to watch the films at home for something like £9.99 for 30 days, check website for details!!

I've been going for 20 odd years, it's maybe a bit commercial now, but if it gets folk out and about that is great, enjoy the MTB session tonight if you are going nearly sold out.

I’m here, volunteering on the Trash Free Trails stand tomorrow, so please say hello (probably use your forum name!) if you drop by.
