There's an obstacle course type offroad running race over near Baslow. March 31st. It's new this year. The entry fee is sensible unlike Tough Guy, which i think is about £80 now (!). Might be of interest to some:

The organisation is nothing to do with me but i have entered, it should be a laugh.

Anyone fancy it?

Nah. The only thing I did vaguely similar was a mud duathalon, where I bent my leg the wrong way misjudging the depth of a puddle. 10 years on and the knee is still a bit dodgy.

You'll be fine though 🙂

What are the entrants to these events like?

It all looks a bit "wannabe-commando". I mean who wears a headband FFS.

Fairly accurate Cynic-Al. Let's just say they don't seem to attract many proper runners. I did "Hellrunner down South" a couple of years ago and came somewhere in the top 20 out of 1500 or so - that was no reflection of any fitness on my part, just lousy competition.

Which suits me fine, i might actually get on the podium 😉

other than for finbar who kindly posted the PSA for us to knock it looks a bit like you need to be keen on self improvement, maybe they have a stylist on hand to remove headbands? I'd imagine lycra under shorts would be popular so some on here may qualify:

I'm going for headband, lycra undershorts, a fuel belt, and compression socks. And a sheath knife.

No wire cutters?

All good suggestions. I'll probably need to buy one of those £120 Salomon S-LAB rucksacks to keep it all in. Maybe some gels as well, it is 8km after all.

Combat boots and a compass built into the handle of your knife as well.

A casio G-shock is a must.
