Those job and career quizes that tells you the best suited jobs for the things you enjoy and your skills. Can anyone recommend one that doesn't require a log in or fee?
+1...
I'm wary of those ... i never became a make-up artist despite the recommendation.
This book, however, got me the career i love today, and my wife has used it to the same effect.

I just need a starting point to help with a career change. Have no idea of what jobs would suit me.
The things I have work experience in, I don't enjoy doing.
The things I enjoy and am good at, I have no work experience in, but am much better at doing these things than what I have work experience in.
This takes a bit more effort, but you get a lot more than a suggestion of a career. There's a lot of tasks and suggestions, but ultimately a more sustainable solution.
If you know what you like, this will really help you with the tactics for getting work doing it.

In 1984-85? This thing actually suggested I join the clergy. I haven't got a religious bone in my body! Glad I didn't listen to it though, I'm now the lab manager for a research group doing cutting edge work into the origins of DNA replication loops.
🙂
Local adult education provider may have a short course to help. We run one based around coaching and getting people to think about skills and values they hold along with experience etc.
Those online jobbies are pretty bad mostly.
If not, there are plenty of career coaches to help? It really works discussing thoughts with someone.
Interested in places to looks well. Turns out directing traffic at a vaccination centre as a volunteer is infinitely more satisfying than my current average wage civil service role.
I'm in a similar boat. After a recent management change, they seem hell bent on smooshing all the square pegs into round holes and the round pegs into square holes. A job I once loved it now the total opposite.
In need of an escape plan.
@reeksy Saw the link and thought, very briefly, that it was a recommendation to work in skydiving!
FWIW, the colour of my parachute is red and black. And green on the other one. I don't like the green one. Had to throw it away once soon after getting it. That was fun.
Errr, about that...
I have used Edgar Schein’s Career Anchors to support coaching of individuals to help them make more informed choices on their own options - you can find the questionnaire and analysis tools free online.
Myers-Briggs pretty well proven to be bunkum with no real scientific basis but it didn’t stop quite a few people and companies I worked with getting their knickers in a twist.
Big corporates love this stuff as it gives them something ‘tangible’ despite the complete lack of people skills in your run-of-the-mill psychopathic, career at all costs ‘leader’.

Hmmm works in a lab and username contains Beagle. Hopefully not connected 🙁
My first thought when I saw his Beagle as their user name and career was the name of Darwins boat.
