I've just heard that a friend's company had a fire at their building overnight, it sounds pretty serious, to the point where they won't be able to work there for some time.
She and a bunch of other colleagues have already been put down to 4 days a week, and now she's worried that this may tip the company over and she could lose her job. You'd like to think that they're well insured etc.
Does anyone have any idea's what the employment law is if they use the fire as an excuse to let people go?
SO the company is not doing so well and then the building burns down....

Just to cheer things up even more most companies experiencing a fire rarely last beyond 2 years after the event. The owner usually takes the insurance money and runs. 🙁

Was it the lab in Runcorn , top floor destroyed.
Depending on insurance, and possible loss of intellectual property, you cant work if youve got no equipment or workshop, so probably the company will declare bankruptcy, and your freind will be unemployed and will have to make a claim for redundancy off the government.
