Got out the van and nearly fell on my arse. Got up on the tops and was ice breaking the puddles!
I was out the other day practicing my moto x cornering on it, it's sketchy but a lot of fun 😀
Jeebesus it's slippy out there!!!
As the Bishop said to the.....
Been out for 40 miles on the road and it was very iffy on some corners.
Sleeting now in Cannock 😐
Tomorrows Marple pootle is going to be a feast of slippy-slideyness methinks. That's if I get out of here. Living on an effing big, steep, un-gritted hill+ice+unsuitable car= squeaky bum time in't morning
You just need big tyres at low pressure and it all becomes fun n games
An old lady and a dog saved me from a big off!! Saw the dog slowed down saw her dabbed the brakes, bike just slid away on a big slab of rock that was fully iced over. I landed and couldn't stand because it was that bad!!
Aye, saw a guy with a bust ankle caused by black ice heading out of Sheffield at about 10o'clock this morning.
Endcliffe park paths all like skating rinks.
Definitely not a road bike day.
Tomorrow's Dawn till Dusk ride all over the Long Mynd is going to be really really really tough, 7am start 4:30pm finish.
Went out for a training ride on my road bike this morning at 07.30 and I discovered the fine line between commitment and stupidity.
5 minutes into the ride I encountered freezing rain. Every road I went on was treacherous. The ride lasted 45 minutes as it was too scary.
Cyclocross race should be interesting tomorrow.
I came off my bike riding down the spiral cycle path bridge today. The back wheel just came out from under me, very embarrassing!
Another one, signing in. Went out on a local loop from my door, South Manchester>Reddish Vale>Werneth Lowe>Marple and it was pretty icy in patches.
I also got saved by a dog! At the beginning of the ride heading down into Reddish Vale and saw a guy's dog scrabbling for grip as he ran. A good job too as I think I would of been on my arse otherwise.
It was kind of a shame as not everywhere was that bad but after a few close calls I felt like I was riding on eggshells the whole time and couldn't really relax, especially on the the descents. I've only got fast rolling tyres on which is a bit silly at the moment really.
Glad I didn't bother heading out up into Marple and Mellor etc as I'm guessing it would have been worse there. Definitely gonna think twice about the solo night-ride next week if conditions are no different.
get an indoor trainer and watch some christmas smooze film on C5 - no point in busting an ankle for the sake of a tempo paced ride.
I genuinely couldn't do ^^^ that! I don't own a road bike but really really can't see the point of pretend cycling in my garage!?!

and that's why you are slow and rubbish on the hills 😆
It was sketchy in the car tonight on country roads here in North Wilts picking a mate up and going to and from the pub. I was getting traction control kicking in pulling away from junctions, and accellerating from 20mph.
I was sticking to 30mph where I'd normally do 50-60, and 30 felt on the limit on a dead straight road at times.
Trouble is, there's lots of big puddles and standing water that's being spread along the road and freezing.
Take it very easy out there, guys.
Roady_tony is right. I've been ill most of Dec. I'm listening to my body. Gym, Jacuzzi then Sauna for me.
a bit of snow on Friday followed by melt and refreeze - paths and pavements are a sea of ice - not nice 👿
This morning's blast round Mugdock has been replaced by playing the Wii with the kids !
Can't even walk round my car on the driveway without hanging onto the roof bars .......
I've sacked off today's ride! Discretion being the better part of valour, and all that. I was really looking forward to it as well, but it's sheet ice underneath snow out there. Suicidally slippy!
Suicidally slippy!
This is depressing, it makes me feel like running away to a warmer country.

Waiting for my club mates to show just before eight this morning, the ammount of police cars, ambulances and fire engines that went past!!!!!
The roads were mental and our route had to be diverted due to the police closing some hills.
Just remembered why MTBs are such a good winter choice.
Well,we went out today....and it was slippery, but great fun on the Cross bike, coped with the roots and frozen mud ok,but came a cropper on a track.Wheels just went straight from under me.Thankfully no harm done.
Riding home along the A34 in driving rain was grim. Out for more fun on Tuesday night.
Just spent the weekend in Hebden Bridge with my lass. She came a cropper big time. Cut hand and a bruised bum. Slick soled boots really are great for grip in the ice lol.
I stacked it this morning. It was something like "This crunchy mud is dead grippy, i could get used to this... oh, is that ice? Looks kinda slippy. Best just straight line it. Not so baaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh! Ouch. Idiot."
I slipped over running full pelt down a hill yesterday. Properly nailed my coccyx. I was shouting so much a guy in a van stopped and asked if i was okay 😳 😆
just wet here - really wet - even the dry bits are wet
Just been out for a night ride round Beecraigs.
There was a bit of everything going on, from mud/slush to snow/ice.
Good fun though, only came off due to me getting my front wheel stuck in the mud as I went to lift it for some boardwalk.
Gti Junior and I went out to play in Mrs Gti's C1, which we have fitted with winter tyres. It was absolutely brilliant; we stopped on an icy hill then re-started and were on our way with no wheelspin at all. Sadly now it won't really do handbrake turns very well as there's too much grip.
Comical moment: we were driving briskly up a long steep country road and a couple walking a dog about 200 yards ahead heard us, tuned to look then sprinted up the road and dived into a farm entrance - they must have thought we were going to spin past them out of control and knock them flying. I bet they were surprised to see how well the C1 was climbing the hill.
These are what we fitted:
