Hi guys,

In your opinion what is the best site on the internet for checking the weather in the UK?

ATM I'm using the BBC 5 day forecast and I'm pretty sure better sites exist.

Cheers

yr.no

http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/London~2643743/hour_by_hour.html

tipped off about it in here one day (cant remember who, sorry, but the credit's theirs). Love it, especially the hour-by-hour meteogram.

Use them all and then make up your own forecast in your head. I do that and it seems to be sunny 365 days a year. Which suits me when it comes to planning days riding/weekends away etc.

Met Office, although weatherbug is also quite good.

another vote for yr.no - it's great!

to be fair though, forecasts change so frequently (unless there's a blob of high pressure over us), that they are all going to be wrong at some point. yr.no is one of the better ones, particularly a week ahead type forecasts.

I combine the Met Office (rainfall radar is the best bit) and the BBC. I tend to look at the data and make my own forecast specific to my location. Weather forcaseing is very accurate these days if you pay attention to it, is just that people see 'sunny in England' then say it's wrong when they get a heavy shower in the Lakes or whatever. You need to learn and understand. I reckon they're 95% accurate at 24 hours these days, but anything over 3-4 days I don't even bother with. There's just too many variables, timing and direction being the main ones. For example, they might forecast heavy rain on Monday for Saturday, and then it speeds up a bit and you get it on Friday night and don't notice it, or it edges North a bit and misses you. The same weather still happens, but due to a small change, you get the opposite!

I find www.weatheronline.co.uk to be reasonably accurate.

I use the Met Office and theweatheroutlook and sort of average between them

The BBC one is decent but you need to watch the maps on a regular basis.

@ Stoner. Ha!

Thanks for all the suggestions - I'm going to have a play about with them during lunch.

I want to do the South Downs Way this/next weekend potentially but I'm not up for treking down there to get soaked through.
