Not sure if it a fiendish Apple plot - but can't import converted DVD's into iTunes any more.
Have previously been able to add movies that have been converted by 'Red Kawa' software (DVD decrypter & Videora) though these would not play within iTunes, but are fine on iPod. The files I am trying to import play fine in other software, but iTunes freezes when i try to import.Any ideas??
thanks very much..

I've always used Handbrake to convert my movies, but your problem intrigues me as I took a converted movie over to a m8 and tried to import it into his itunes and had issues, then had to leave before figuring it out.
Might just have been a glitch though
Haven't converted/imported anything on my own machine for a while.

It might be that they aren't quite the right framerate, resolution etc.: I think iTunes has been getting a bit more particular about stuff like that over time. Try converting the same DVDs with Handbrake (it's probably about the best quality converter anyway) using the Apple Universal, iPod touch/iPhone or Apple TV preset as appropriate for your intended use and let us know how you get on.

Thanks - will give that a go and see what happens. Interesting that none of the movies i have successfully imported will play in iTunes - seems a common problem. Wrong frame rate seems likely.

I experienced this recently and when i looked on the usual forums there didn't seem to be any solution, it seemed to be a 'quirk'. Like z1ppy i use handbrake and never had a problem up until a few months back, so the cynical part of me thinks it's an Apple ploy to discourage ripping.

reporting back - handbrake would not work with disc or the files on the PC, so ended up using CloneDVD2 to make a copy which them worked with handbrake - all to no avail as this version also caused iTunes to freeze....so it maybe the only way to get films is from iTunes store??
