Oh my GOD! I have had ENOUGH!

HOW can Apple - a company famous for intuitive user interaction - manage to have made iTunes into THE MOST IRRITATINGLY DIFFICULT and awkward to use programme in the world!??? It was great when it first appeared, surely I am not the only one to now find it hugely overcomplicated and just UTTER RUBBISH.

Can anyone advise an easy to use free alternative for a Macbook Pro (which I should point out is otherwise just brilliant) which will handle music and video files?

Yeah - VLC probably. I can't comment further as I really like the new iTunes.

What are you after when you say 'Manage' files and what are the issues with iTunes?

it would be interesting to hear what specific problems you are having because, at least from here, it really does "just work".

I'm using it on my MacBook, iPhone, Watch and Apple TV.

What is it you are trying to do and how are you (currently) trying to do it?

I've generally found iTunes to be fine.

I'm told Roon is pretty good and has native integration with Tidal if you're into streaming.

There are an awful lot of "features" in there which don't interest me, but in terms of managing and playing my music and videos and syncing to iPhone it works fine.

Spotify? Picks up local music and lets you listen to just about anything

Plex?

(Works well for streaming video to my "smart" TV to overcome iTunes reluctance to deal with all video formats, and provides great meta data, so would expect it handles music similarly)
