I think the point, beyond merely a stupid person saying stupid things, is that I can't believe there is still such ignorance in the developed World, particularly from someone who holds a position of power and influence within their own company.

It's not really a surprise that a disease like HIV will be more prevalent in black South Africans, unless you are you.

Lack of drugs availability to help with the treatment, birth control being shunned by the catholic church,no condoms, alternative sexual practices without using a condom and poor eduction about AIDS HIV.

Its arguable that the biggest disaster to happen to the fight against HIV in South Africa was the and of apartheid and the subsequent ANC black rule

I once had the opportunity to go to east Africa to help out on an educational turn-key project, I declined on health risk grounds. A university colleague jumped at the chance and on his return spent quite a while at the Leeds tropical medicine hospital (or whatever it was actually called then). He still has health problems to this day as a consequence. They didn't call Africa the white man's graveyard for nothing!

A friend works in Botswana and has had many people he works with fall victim to HIV.

At one time almost 40% of the population there had HIV which is almost unbelievable. HIV rates there have fallen to about 25% which is still shocking.

The average life expectancy was 65 in 1990 but had fallen to 35 by 2005 and is now back up to 53 so the HIV education campaigns are working.

What about "Big Cat Aids" she might catch that.

For the terminally thick, Aids or HIV is passed by sharing needles, sexual contact, bodily fluids entering another persons body, and untreated blood transfusions.

It knows no boundries, colour,sexuality,age,country of origin, but in africa it kills more people due to lack of eduction and drugs to treat the effects and prolong life for those whom catch it.
