threads are getting pulled for referring to earlier controversial threads it what seems to be a pre-emptive strike to silence opinion

More likely pulled to prevent nasty arguments.

If people were able to conduct themselves in a respectful and considerate manner, I'm sure the threads woon't end up being pulled...

I admit I gave up on the thread in question after a few posts. Did it descend into total vitriol then? 🙄

I think thread pulling should be reactive, not pre-emptive otherwise it's going to get to the point where there'll be a sudden loss of contribution from people from myself and others I imagine.

I for one am sick of threads being pulled for this reason, among the fact that I was 'warned' the other week against swear avoidance - I self censored a swear word and got told off for it!

I didn't think so. Very emotive subject and two very different points of view expressed, more eloquently and with less froth by TJ and others.

The thing that annoys me is that the thread gets pulled after 300 odd posts and is clearly on the radar for several hours and has little bits and pieces of modding. Why skip it after 300 posts? There were plenty of unpleasant opinions expressed on the first page. Mind you elfin didn't turn up til about 250... 😉

Because the mods were bored/ wanted to go out for a bike ride/ have tea etc (and Elfy had turned up).

I think we're lucky to have threads like that go on as long as they do... SSDD.

I must say I have entered a few threads of late and quickly retreated due to the usual bickering from the usual people.

Can we not have a happy feelgood thread (which doesn't include near nude images) for once?
