for HGV drivers caught drink driving. Arguably for all drivers, I guess.

Hants Police just caught the driver of this three times over the limit;

If he'd been running round the streets swinging a big stick he'd probably have been less of a danger to other people.

I don't see what that pictures about, but if you're going to get hammered and drive an HGV, this is the way to do it

I don't agree. Someone JUST over the limit may be a safer driver than many others under it, or those who are tired etc.

American style harshness in sentencing is guff IMO, and only serves to direct focus away from issues such as the careless & dangerous driving that kills many and goes virtually unpunished.

Are there stats on how many are killed by DUI vs sober drivers?

I agree. The standard of driving I see on my commute makes me feel like I'm in the midst of a vehicle based game of Russian roulette every day. I'd rather be surrounded by good drivers slightly over the limit than bad drivers who haven't had a drop.

I appreciate that many will not be able to comprehend this.
