MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I look after a very, very basic Windows 2003 domain, 11 PC's all running XP Pro, nothing fancy on the network at all.
we had a new fancy photocopier/scanner, everyone works fine apart from one PC.
It's a 3 week old Dell PC (XP Pro) and I've set it up exactly the same as i always do.
the scanner needs to connect over the network and it cannot see the PC, from my PC and all the others I CANNOT PING the new PC but from the new PC I Can ping the rest of the network>???
It has to be a numpty answer, any ideas?
I have checked the new PC and asked the guy if he's installed anything mad and he hasnt its a basic set-up.
It's running Windows Defender and AVG AV, office thats about it
AAARRRRRRGH
cheers
firewall?
have you tried a tracert?
Firewall issue, either on the PC (most likely) or on the router.
Have you tried turning it off and back on again.
Mine's the brown anorak, thanks.
cheers all...
tracert just bombs out on the 7th attempt.
the only firewall is the crappy BT Business Broadband hub which shouldnt effect it.
it has windows firewall running, he may have messed with this, i'll turn it off and see what happens.
*i did turn it on and off 😉
