Seems to be acoomon issue now on the web..but no one really has an answer!
I simply want to synch my google account (mail, contacts, calendar) to my bloody ipad, and it just keeps returning to the 'add account' section of settings!
I've removed 2 step verification..no help..
Anyone!
DrP
I use the Gmail app as i'm not sure the mail works properly on IOS. Contacts and calendar do work fine though so try removing the mail from the account and see if that helps.
even that won't work..
I need it for email, calendar, and contacts!
My new ipad is useless!!
DrP
There is a security setting called 'allow less secure apps' that blocks some email clients. Try turning that on first

Are you following the stuff here under "Sync your account with Apple apps" ?
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6390156?hl=en
leffe - the google apps is 'not available for my account'
And Graham - i've done all that>
Odly, google is 'aware' I'm trying to access my aacount, but the ipad goes back to the 'add account' page...
Annoying!

Mmm, I did check that it worked with regular rather than gsuite accounts but I must have made a mistake, sorry.it works just fine on our iPad so I'll take a look and see what we do
Just checked and that less secure apps' setting IS available on my standard email account and I have it turned on. I wonder why it isn't available for you. Is this a personal account or a work one?
Hmm.. odd. Sounds like a bug. What version of iOS are you on?
Just been googling and some folk said subscribing to the Calendar first seems to get around it.

Ok..randomly the less secure apps IS there now.
Turned off, will see if ipad works..!
DrP
It need to be turned on to allow less secure apps. Sounds as though it was already on so it wasn't that
If less secure Apps doesn't fix it check your iOS version: Settings > General > Software update.
Also try:
Settings > Mail > Accounts - delete any half / failed attempts and reload.
If that all fails delete all mail accounts, log out of icloud / appstore etc and try again. Could be an icloud/email conflict.

buy something that works the way you want it to.
I've had two iPhones and an iPad all syncing with my Google account just fine for years. As it is meant to.
So it can be done, just sounds like DrP has run into some kind of weird bug.
Worst comes to wurst, book an appointment with a Genius and get them to sort it for you.

It's known that there are certain aspects of Google where there are conflicts with iOS that it's Google's responsibility to fix, but they can't be arsed to do so, as they see no benefit.
The same goes for issues with apps like Flickr, who pretty much admit that there are issues using it on iOS, but they don't give a toss.
It's the 80/20 rule in action.
All working fine..
It was the 'allow less secure apps' thing...
I got the double negative wrong.. I ALLOWED less secure apps I.e turned it ON, ahs all is fine..
Ta all!
