There must be one.
Paul Burstow was the mp for where our shop is located and seemed like a thoroughly decent person. Now replaced by Paul (I'll turn up if there's a photographer) Scully.
Chris Grayling is our mp where we live and is a weapons grade ****.
Have you got lucky?

used to have Sandra Gidley - she seemed OK, replied specifically (or her sec did) to a letter I sent once about cycling infrastructure and didn't seem to be a publicity-whore. Liberal though, so never really had to "defend" a position (she'd gone by the time of the coalition)

Current one, meh - not sure she does much at all. Is that honourable ?

My MP is a surgeon, she specialises in breast cancer surgery. Mrs Nobeer has worked with her in the past and reckons she's awesome.

I'm quite happy with that tbh.

Mine isn't. Sent him a letter after the High Court ruling on Brexit asking that, since he originally campaigned for remain, whether he'd consider pushing harder now there's an opportunity to fix it.

The reply, on very posh paper, basically said piss off. He said that he "promised to respect the result of the referendum" and that not doing so would be hypocritical. Which is weird, because in my job we're encouraged to constantly review decisions and change them if circumstances alter or new information comes to light.

"I find it odd that some people who did not feel strongly enough about our EU membership to campaign in the pre-referendum period are now trying to overturn the democratic result."

Perhaps the fact that many of the people who voted leave were either lied to by Farage, Johnson and Gove or are simply racist has drifted by him.

Edit: spelling.

Alex Chalk here. Seems a decent guy (for a Tory).
He certainly seems to work hard.
The previous incumbent Martin Horwood (Lib Dem) was also a good guy.
Cheltenham btw

Craig Whittaker, MP for Calder Valley, a man who looks to have spirited his own son out of the country in order to further his political career, and who is so universally loathed even local tory councillors openly slag him off on facebook.

I sometimes think that you don't hear about the honourable ones because they're not dishonourable enough to climb to the top lol

Not sure if it's honourable to be a Tory Boy that follows the party line and is just there to do fill a seat after being parachuted in to replace the previous Tory muppet who retired.

Locals seemed to think he was as they had no idea who he was but he was Tory so they voted for him.

Not aware of scandals or dishonourable stuff. Guess he just does the job but doesn't seem to have any impact. Never hear of him really sticking up for the community and being representative of local views other than the odd small issue. Just votes with the government.

Jonathan Lord.

Oh and previous Tory muppet just seemed to be more interested in his other life as a judge (or whatever it was). His questions in parliament were always about prisons and justice stuff also and rarely actually about the constituency he supposedly represented.

We have a new one this time around, Heidi Allen. I've not met her, but she has a column in the local newsletter and I skim that when it comes. Other than that, she's not really done much that I can see. She might be ok, but I have yet to be impressed.

Don't know much about our current MP but the previous one (we moved house) lived in Surrey while his constituency was in the Midlands. He didn't even bother acknowledging the two or three emails I sent him.

Useless/10

Mines Cheryl Gillan. I don't think she's a bad person just pretty incompetent. At least she had a life before politics but sadly as a marketing consultant.

<edit>Just spotted that she's generally voted against gay rights and equality in general and employees her 82 year old husband using parliamentary expenses as "office manager/researcher" so my opinion of her has dropped.</edit>

Old Etonian, 'wealthy politician and close friend of David Cameron', sacked by May and awarded a knighthood by Cameron, big in the Maldives. So that'll be a no then.

No. andrew jones Harrogate. I recently wrote & asked him how he'd vote if there was one on the fox hunting malarkey, giving no indication of my feelings on the matter. So unsurprisingly he was non committal, but cos he's a pompous tory I reckon he'd vote it back in, the Nob.

used to be William Haigh, nice chap and popular locally.

Now Rishi Sunac, seems a pretty decent guy. Met him a couple of times and struck me as pretty genuine. Getting a good reputation round here.

In a previous place had Jason McCartney, terrible but a little better than the previous incumbent, Kyle Mountford.

The Daily Mail listed ours in the expenses scandal.
Based on that alone, I think he's probably a good 'un.

Mines Tory MP Simon Hart.. Big advocate for fox hunting. He's recently blocked me on Facebook after I repeatedly questioned him about cuts affecting the poor and disabled.

Nigel Adams, seems good at photo opportunities and the occasional well placed sound bite campaigns. Bit of a wet lettuce otherwise.

Could be worse for a Tory boy I suppose.

I sometimes think that you don't hear about the honourable ones because they're not dishonourable enough to climb to the top lol

"MP gets on with job, talks to constituents and deals with their issues" doesn't make headlines and is unlikely to get someone noticed in the party.

I believe most MPs are actually good and honest, they just aren't the ones you ever hear about.

Neither my MP or MSP are seen much these days (both SNP). That's sad because both of their predecessors (one Tory deposed in 2011, one Labour stood down in 2015) were very good constituency workers.

No, mine's a small minded bigot. He also told me "people need their cars" and informed me that cyclists undertaking vehicles queueing in traffic was illegal and likely to scratch his car with their pedals. Voted against gay marriage, thinks it's fine to smoke in vehicles with children in, and the list goes on.

Mine seems alright. She's certainly qualified and has a good track record, and she was a lawyer and advocate for good causes etc before becoming an MP, and has a pretty consistent voting record. And was part of a daft SNP BAD episode where the press and opposition decided to accuse her of being a homophobe, because they hadn't noticed she's a lesbian, that's worth bonus points.

Honourable? Tricky question. She upset a property developer by refusing to throw public funds at a job he'd promised but failed to do, that's a good sign. She attends parliament and contributes more than most, that's good. Allegedly dodged a vote on right-to-die, and she might be awful in person, never met her. I've never seen her fight a dragon, or anything. But she seems above average at least.

Julian Sturdy. Campaigned for leave, believes MPs must respect the vote, fails to notice his constituents voted remain.

Generally lobby fodder - not worth the salary.

Others I have met through work have been very good though.

And yes 5th, I knew. Useful to know the enemy.
