I've done a fair bit of messing about in cars over the years but the one thing I've never done is rallying. Funding a season of actual racing is a bit OTT I just really want to scratch the itch if you know what I mean.

Long story, very short- There's a Mitsubishi Evo III rally car sitting in my mates Dad's garage that we (myself and son of garage owner) might be able to borrow. The owner is 65 and has lost interest in driving but loves the car and wants to see it used by some enthusiastic youngsters in return for bringing it back up to scratch and doing all the spannering work. Which I would love to do.

Where do people who have rally cars take them to practice? No point going to a normal track day when what we really want to do is slide around rally style.

This might be my only chance to dip my toe into rallying without the considerable cost of racing. I'll save that for when I fancy a break from bikes ๐Ÿ˜‰

Book yourself in to a rally school that will let you take your own car (such as this one)

NB - Not mine, no commercial interest, but I still think back and smile even though my day there was 16 years ago!

Go on a course and get a feel for it, once you've got the hang of it, then try the EVO.
