The microwave oven makes a sudden, short, high pitch "donk" when it starts.
It a bit scary.
Any experts out there?
Am I going to get a blast of radiation and end up with super powers... and be known as "reheat coffee man".
Get a tin of beans, and without opening it, put it in the microwave on high for 10 minutes.
That will remove any doubt from the equation..
^100% this. It's the only way to be sure. Think of the children, you don't hate children do you?
Charlie, my old Microding did that for about 3 years before it just didn't do any heating.
No gradual decline it just stopped heating and without any dramatic bang either.

Thanks guys. That’s kinda helpful.
I will update you if the donk gets me.
… no update yet. Was he donked?
If you're gonna go, go big.

After it's been left with the door open in a dark room? It'll be a moth
Isn't a high pitched donk a dink?
Popty [s]Ping[/s]....donk?
It's not going to blow up, or irradiate you, but it might stop working soon.
Is it playing horribly clichéd country & western?

I'm unfamiliar with the rest of this artist's back catalogue. Is it some sort of parody act?
It sounds like the magnetron kicking in and pulling a few amps through it, was fairly normal on non-inverter basic type of microwave when starting.
If its still heating I wouldn't worry.
