In Guildford (work HQ) next week. Pondering the idea of a ride after work. Any decent xc loops around? If so, anyone got a gpx? Anything to look out for/ be aware of? Peaslake has come up a few times on my radar, worth a ride?

Cheers!

In short, yes.

You've got the Surrey hills (main base normally being peaslake) on the doorstep which has some of the best MTB trails in the SE.

There's a bit of everything - XC trails, steep scary stuff, jumps, enduro trails.

Have a look on trailforks.

You've also got loads of bridleways around box hill etc.

Literally tonnes of riding in the area.

Surrey Hills is great. I can't guide you though as I am not local and only ridden there a few times.

With the long evenings definitely if you can get out of town and a route guide.

Yep loads of riding from Guildford. Head up to St Martha’s and you don’t even need to go as far as Peaslake. Lots of riding on the North Downs ridge. Not too much needs a FS.

I did exactly this last summer. Parked in peaslake and tagged onto a friendly local group ride I bumped into. Definitely take the bike, the trails are good and quite different to a lot of places
