Just wondering if I should pay to have my Witter tow bar removed before part x-ing my car ?

If so, anyone want a towbar to fit a Mondeo?

Remove it yourself, they're just bolted on. Should be able to get instructions here:

Even better if you get the wiring stuff out too, useful for the next person. If it's in decent nick I'm sure your towbar's worth £50 to someone. (a new one would cost them £150 ish).

Tend to find the garage will remove it anyway, for re-sale,to avoid questions like'whats the MOndeo been towing?'
Could be a bike rack, could be a 1800lb caravan for lots of miles, in which case it will have an effect on the wear + tear, clutch etc.
So, the motortrade view is - 'take it off'.

I agree most of the car traders I know take them off and then sell them separately on ebay.

It stops the awkward questions and generates a little more profit.

Thing to watch is that, on some models, the towbar fitting replaces a structural rear member. If you don't have one to re-fit, the car (and occupants) is at massive risk in the event of a rear-end shunt.
