Mrs Zip needs another present.
Is there a device you can use that doesn't involve a running engine or car battery use?
I'm thinking some sort of rechargeable radiator.

You could fit a parking heater. Webasto do one.

Webasto Ctop or Eberspacher D2, both non diy install and ~£750+

Get a long extension lead, plug in security timer and an oil filled radiator on the back seat

Blow heater on a extension cord? Put it in every night and turn it on five minutes before you leave or on a timmer.

Need a driveway for this obviously.

I put an outside socket on a few years ago. I leave a short extension with a 16A waterproof end attached. Cheapo blow heater from Argos for 15 mins or so and windscreen is clear and interior warm.
As above, driveway required.

Would love a Webasto or Eber with text module but couldn't justify the cost.

Used to have an ancient honda civic with a condensation issue.

Used to have a bit of plywood resting between the front seats and a fan heater in the gap.

First thing in the morning we'd pop it on for 5-10 minutes with an extension lead through the lounge window.

Warm interior and perfectly defrosted quicker than I could scrape the other car. Then the heater and plank went in the boot and off it went.

Looking back I wonder why we didn't defrost the other car the same way!

Another fan heater user here for when it's frosty (outside!) at 06.30 when Mrs Z leaves for work. Unfortunately it's me who has to get up and turn it on while she enjoys a few more minutes in bed.

We've got a Wolverine Heater for the car, not quite instant heat but it certainly warms up quicker.

+1 fan heater user - pop down and fire it up before you jump in the shower, car frost-free and toasty by the time you head out the door. Job jobbed. 🙂

Zippy, can you make a video of your missus opening a box with a fan header and extension lead in it on Christmas day please? 😀

Could you then record the divorce? 😀

What car do you have? Lots of cars have heaters fitted but are missing the remote activation, loads of websites across Europe selling the requisite modules/kits

You can get 1kw electric block heaters from ford in Sweden or Finland. Think they sell them in Russia and Eastern Europe too. They usually bolt into the block in a slightly different water pump or thermostat housing. Cost is really low (like £50 for the parts). Runs off the mains either on a timer or thermostat depending on the ambient temp.

THis is exactly the sort of thing an Amazon Echo and smart plug would be PERFECT for!!

“Alexa, warm up the car”.... 😉

Still gotta manually take it out the car ....or at least unplug it and coil up the wire......well done don't....but you'll look daft driving down the road with an electric cord dragging along behind.....

How long does a car take to warm up..... I start car scrape windows and get moving..... It's usually warm before I get to the village

Is one option but for the true STW spirit my suggestion is to build fire under the engine, it is the Siberian way.
