Has anyone been up and seen whether the snow/ice has receded enough to try the trails. I am supposed to be taking a group of 10 year olds out for a birthday ride today bu the fells still look pretty snow covered from here.

Stumpyjon off here, who organises some of the dig days, went there yesterday. We were supposed to have a dig day this tuesday, but he called it off, due to the conditions. He emailed round saying the roads were still bad (he has a 4x4) and ground was solid. Also, the forest roads were still really icey and still plenty of snow.

Steer clear, as Eve said I was up there yesterday, about a foot of mainly virgin snow on the fire roads. The road up to the carpark was fun in a 4 x 4 yet alone a two wheel drive. Some of it may have melted but I reckon it'll be a good couple of days before it's rideable and then it'll be very very wet.
