Ok so my wife has brought me kicking and screaming into the present century with an iPod thingymajig. I use it mainly for the old email and a bit of surfing but like the music bit too!
Now is there a dock which will allow me to plug my iPod in but also run my record deck and cd player through and allow me to use my existing reasonable quality speakers?
Does that make sense?
Hope so!
Cheers

I assume that you actually have an amp that everything else is plugged into, so there are various docks that allow an output to an aux on an amp, along with a video out to a tv. Onkyo do one, with a remote, but there are plenty of dumb ones that allow you to just let the pod play on shuffle while charging. Just google iPod docks and see what shows up. I actually have an Onkyo one, but hardly use it as I tend to play CDs through my DVD99, and I'm getting a Mac Mini which will connect to my amp via TOSLINK and my tv via HDMI, and I can see it's desktop from my phone, so I'll stream music from that.

Cheers I'll have a look, was hoping to get rid of the amp but not sure it's worth it.

If you want to use the turntable and such there's no option. There are audio docks that you can use as a hifi, with AirPlay, like the B&W Zeppelin, but if you want the other sources there's no option but to keep the amp. There's streaming music options, but generally I think they require a computer with all the music on as a hub, and Airport Extreme units dotted around the place, or something like a Sonos or Philips. They all involve expense, whereas you've got an established set-up that works for you with source options, so plugging a dock into an aux in will give you another cheap workable option. I'm no expert, I admit, but what I've read about recently doesn't seem to offer the sort of thing I think you're after without ditching everything you have and starting from scratch. The thing is a cd player is line in, but a turntable requires a pre-amp, because of the output from the cartridge. There's not going to be a dock that offers that, the turntable is obsolete from a manufacturers point of view. A dock will cost you a few squids, any other will cost hundreds and leave you without the t/t. Stick with what works, there's nothing wrong with it.
